Music Lessons

Vocals: Jade Williams

Jade is the lead singer and lyricist with the West London four piece band, Du Bellows. Capable of ranging from acoustic subtlety to a fully fuzzed loudness, Jade’s voice brings an irresistible warmth to the imaginative harmonics of the band.

Jade teaches music and is a voice coach to our singers helping them to improve their range and stage confidence.

She was also a contestant on ITV’s ‘The Voice’ and was selected by Sir Tom Jones.

Cello: Penka Petkova

Penka Petkova began learning the piano at the age of five, and at the age of six she began her cello studies in the class of Daniela Cherpokova-Nikolaeva at the Lybomir Pipkov National School of Music in Sofia (Bulgaria). Since September 2013, she is a bachelor student of prof. Stefan Popov at Guildhall School of Music and Drama (London).

Piano: Gintaras Pamakstys

Gintaras Pamakstys is a classically trained pianist from Vilnius, Lithuania. At the age of six he started studying piano at the M. K. Ciurlionis School of Arts, Vilnius, under Ms Laimute Jakniuniene. He later continued his studies under Ms Jurate Terese Karosaite, who taught him until his graduation from the School.

In 2004 Gintaras was awarded a scholarship by the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, to study under Professor Joan Havill, whose guidance helped him achieve Bachelor and Master of Music degrees  in solo piano performance.

After graduating as a soloist, Gintaras continued his studies as a piano accompanist on the Guildhall Artist Programme with Prof. Caroline Palmer and Prof. Pamela Lidiard, which he completed with distinction and was subsequently invited by the Guildhall School of Music and Drama to work as a professional piano accompanist.

Gintaras has given a notable amount of solo and collaborative performances. He is a prize winner of international piano competitions in the Czech Republic and Italy.

Ever since Gintaras arrived in London, he took interest in piano teaching. It is a notable fact that  Arts and Media School, Islington was the first school where Gintaras was able to explore his passion for teaching on a regular basis and meet pupils with various and absolutely unique personalities, learning styles and musical tastes. Since then, Gintaras has successfully built up on his occupation as a visiting piano teacher and has worked for a number of schools in London and Southampton.

As a result, Gintaras is able to offer personally taylored piano tuition that is based on many years of experience and is suited to the student’s individual abilities, preferences and musical goals.

Drums: Az Khan

Az Khan BMus (Hons) is a drummer with years of experience in teaching, recording and live performance. Az won a scholarship to study at Drumtech alongside accomplished musicians before proceeding to complete a Bachelor’s Degree at London College of Music. As a result of musically-focused education he maintains that the most important part of learning a musical instrument is the right teacher.

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer free instrumental lessons to students in KS3 on any instruments except for violin, viola and/or cello and, as a result, there will be a cost for lessons for students wishing to learn the drums.

Drum lessons will be charged as follows from September 2017:

  • One 30 minute individual lesson per week @ £13.50. The termly cost for these lessons will be approximately £148.50
  • One 30 minute paired lesson per week @ £6.75. This option allows students the opportunity to choose to attend in pairs. Az can also teach students bass and/or guitar so this option might appeal to students wishing to reduce the cost by learning in pairs.

The termly cost for these lessons will be approximately £74.25

Guitar: Dan Arbiter

We have recently appointed Dan Arbiter, an accomplished guitarist and teacher, to work with us as we further develop our outstanding provision in music at AMSI.

Our students are talented and enthusiastic musicians and, as a result, I would therefore expect lots of them to be interested in learning the guitar with Dan during this year.

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer free instrumental lessons to students in KS3 on any instruments except for violin, viola and/or cello and, as a result, there will be a cost for lessons for students wishing to learn the guitar. Guitar lessons will be charged as follows from September 2017:

Students interested in learning the guitar with Dan should speak to Fussi (Music Technician) or Mr Dow when as soon as possible.

Should you have any further questions and/or you would like, at this stage, any additional information please do contact us at the school at any time.
