AMSI Blog 2020-2021

Welcome to Arts & Media School Islington blog 2020-2021 where, along with our News Page, we keep you up to date with all the fascinating events that are taking place each week at our school.

Unfortunately due to COVID-19 restrictions school visits and trips have been suspended for the foreseeable future and this will be reflected in the blog this term.
We will be reviewing this situation as and when possible and very much look forward to exploring, first hand, what London has to offer our students as soon as possible.

UKMT (UK Maths test)

This year, nationally, 272,000 students took the UKMT (UK Maths test) in which the top 25% reached the Gold UKMT award.

We had quite a number of AMSI students achieving the silver award but we’re delighted that Ayman of year 7 qualified for the Gold Award achieving an incredible 93/100. This puts him in the top 10% of the UK population and will now progress to the UKMT Kangaroo test, which he will sit on the 15/16th June. We are incredibly proud of his hard work and achievement. Well done!

To get the year new year and new school off to a flying start, Ms Stephanou has started ‘Thoughtful Friday’ with her Year 7 tutor group. This is an activity where she encourages her tutees to acknowledge the positives of the week by writing a thoughtful note about someone or something that has happened.

The notes are placed in a jar and randomly selected during form time following week.

Congratulations to Mr Willis, Miss Di Maria and Mr Wallen, you have made a great first impression on some members of my form.
Ms Stephanou
