On 3rd May our Danish partner school Ugelbolle Friskole came to visit AMSI after two years of Covid restrictions. The Danish school were greeted and met by Year 9 students and Ms Stephanou who gave them a tour of the school, its facilities and were introduced to specific departments who showed them the UK National curriculum.
After the tour, the Danish school took part in a PE lesson with Year 8 students planned and led by Mr Panayiotou, Mr Owusu-Aborah and Dr Radzka.
Year 10 GCSE dancers led a Street Dance workshop for 36 students where they led a warm-up and taught them a routine that they had created.
The teachers were shown the Pupil Support department where they were met by Ms Angella Harris who gave them a tour of the SEN department and our two sensory rooms. Inge, one of the Deputy Heads of the Danish school was extremely impressed with the excellent work of the Pupil Support department. Inge and her team of teachers left the Pupil Support department with lots of ideas, strategies and shared resources to take back to Denmark to support their SEN students.
At the end of the visit Danish and AMSI students created a time capsule full of memories of the activities of the day. This time-capsule will be opened in years to come when we have a joint reunion.
Thank you to the students who planned and supported the day. All the Danish teachers gave comments of praise to the Year 9’s for representing the school so well on the tours.
