Record Store Day 2020

In the run up to the “socially distanced” Record Store Day event on Saturday 24th October we will be releasing five of our best YR11 student compositions from June 2020.

There will be one track available each day from Monday 19th October. The pieces that you will be able to hear were created by Justice, Khalil, Keji, Mechelle and Tia. They really are fantastic examples of what our exceptionally talented and creative students are capable of.

Friday 23rd October

Our final track of the week is from Mechelle who was one of the great pianists that we’ve had at AMSI. Mechelle is not only a fantastic pianist but great performer who brings a clear love of music alongside a seemingly effortless playing style. She is a joy to watch and hear play. In this track she shows her latin roots and style. Enjoy!

Thursday 22nd October

Like Justice, Khalil’s talent is for music recording and production but he was also happy on the stage when he performed alongside the others at the Barbican playing the drum machine!

Wednesday 21st October

Today’s track is from Tia who joined us towards the end of Year 9. Tia was already used to performing and wasted no time in taking the stage of our theatre to show what a fantastic voice she has. Exuding confidence, Tia regularly blew the audience away with her vocals. We suspect this is not the last we’ll see of Tia!

Tuesday 20th October

Our second track is from Justice. Justice’s talent was less about the performance and more towards music production as evidenced by this rather complex arrangement.

Monday 19th October

Our first track is by Keji who was with us from Year 7 and showed from an early age what a talent she had for singing and performing on stage. Often performing songs from the likes of Ray Charles or Etta James, this is something completely different.

Thank you for taking the time to check out some of the incredibly talented music students that we get at AMSI and particularly from a year group who had such an unusual twist to the end of their time at Art & Media School Islington.
