Dear Parents and Carers,
As you will no doubt be aware, as we reach Step 4 of the government’s ‘roadmap’, the need for many of the COVID-19 safety precautions have been removed, such as keeping students exclusively in bubbles, wearing of face masks, and closing of changing rooms etc.
There are, however, some requirements that remain:
- Ensure good hygiene for everyone.
- Maintain appropriate cleaning regimes.
- Keep occupied spaces well ventilated.
- Follow public health advice on testing, self-isolation and managing confirmed cases of COVID-19.
In addition to this, students should be given 2 lateral flow tests on their return to school, 3-5 days apart. Those taking the test will be supervised by trained staff. The ‘lateral flow’ tests are quick and easy using a swab of your nose and throat. For under 16s, staff can oversee the swab process. As previously, the test requires parental consent (please note nil response will be taken as permission refused).
We will be undertaking the testing regime at the start of Autumn term in September. Those children that have received parental consent will be given a date and time slot for their test. After the test has been conducted, students must leave and return home. We will only contact you if your child tests positive for COVID-19. IF this is the case, then you must book a confirmatory PCR test and follow the stay at home guidance.
The schedule for testing will be as follows:
|31 August||Y7 students tests from 9.00.|
|01 September||Y8 students tests from 8.30. Y9 students tests from 10.30.|
|02 September||Y10 students tests from 8.30. Y11 students tests from 10.00.|
|03 September||2nd Tests for Y7 students from 9.45 (taking place during the Headstart Day where they will arrive at 8.30 and stay on site until 12.30).|
|06 September||2nd Tests for Y8 Students from 8.30.2nd Tests for Y9 Students from 10.00.2nd Tests for Y10 Students from 11.30. 2nd Tests for Y11 Students from 13.00.Year 7 will commence normal lessons for the whole day.|
|07 September||Year 8. 9, 10 and 11 return to normal lessons.|
If you wish your child to be tested, please complete this consent form by Friday 20 August.
I often speak to my staff about the ‘COVID-19 Opportunities’ – how these changes could improve our school. Therefore, the following changes we made this year will remain moving forward:
- Staggered starts and end times for the different key stages.
- Year groups stay together in a base corridor for their lessons.
- Year group ‘Family Lunch’ arrangements.
It should also be noted that students will be expected to wear full school uniform everyday from September. Students will revert back to changing into PE kit before lessons, as they did pre-COVID 19.
I will write to you again outlining some other changes ahead of the new academic year, namely the new achievement and behaviour policy, and a new attendance policy.
