Dear Parents and Carers,
This morning we were made aware that there was a positive case of COVID 19 within Year 10. We acted quickly to identify the students that were close contacts of the positive case, and these students were sent home in accordance with Public Health guidance.
We also made the additional decision to send the rest of the year group home as a precautionary measure ahead of the mock examinations beginning next week, when students will be in the sports hall together for prolonged periods of time. We gave the whole cohort a Lateral Flow COVID test kit, and would strongly encourage them to take a test today and on Sunday evening before they return to school. Full instructions on how to take the test can be found here. Should the test be positive, please do not send your child into school, and inform us in the normal way.
The mock examinations will go ahead as planned next week, although we will be taking extra precautions. We will draw up a contingency plan for those students that have been identified as close contacts that are having to isolate.
As ever, we thank you for your ongoing support – it is never any easy decision to make to send students home, but the safety of our students is paramount.
