Dear Parents and Carers,
I wanted to write to you to explain to you the decision that we made to send our Year 10 cohort home today to undertake remote learning. This morning, we were made aware that there was a positive case of COVID 19 within Year 10. We acted quickly to identify the students that were close contacts of the positive case, and these students were sent home in accordance with Public Health guidance.
We also made the additional decision to send the rest of the year group home as a precautionary measure ahead of the mock examinations beginning next week, when students will be in the sports hall together for prolonged periods of time. We gave the whole cohort a Lateral Flow COVID test kit, and would strongly encourage them to take a test today and on Sunday evening before they return to school. Full instructions on how to take the test can be found here. Should the test be positive, please do not send your child into school, and inform us in the normal way.
As things stand, it is our intention to go ahead with mock exams next week as planned, we are in close contact with Public Health and will put contingency measures in place for those students that have been identified as close contacts.
As ever, we thank you for your ongoing support – it is never any easy decision to make to send students home, but the safety of our students is paramount.
